Plans of chartering a new club begun last May 2005 with PDG Guiller Tumangan as our principal adviser. It was a desire growing from a need to be of service to the less privileged and to reach out to the poor from the communities of Barangay San Dionisio and Barangay San Antonio in Parañaque City.
Divine intervention was sought through Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Baclaran. What followed were difficult and nerve-wracking days of planning, meetings and "fellowships".
After almost four months, on the Feast of Our Lady's birth, the first official club
meeting was held at Air Force One KTV, September 8, 2005. Our "God
Fathers" from the Rotary Club of Parañaque (DCC Gerry Vergara,
DGSR Butch Roces and RC Parañaque President Gary de Guzman) were
very supportive throughout the conception, bearing and during the birthing of the new club.
The maiden issue of the club's newsletter came out two weeks after the 1st official meeting. It coincided with the elections of the new club's officers in what was supposed to be a serious exercise of suffrage, turned out to be an assembly of noisy and rambunctious "mature" men and women!
In the months that followed, everyone had to buckle down to work. Doing outreach projects, attending Rotary seminars, holding regular club meetings and preparing for a much anticipated District Governor's visit.
So impressed were the district officials during the visit, then DG Jimmy Cura asked for the Charter papers of the club and signed it, ready for the immediate delivery to the RI office in Australia.
Rotary International has approved our charter on November 23, 2005.
